Performing Career

Daniel studied ballet at the Musika Centro de Estudos in Goiânia, his city of birth, and in 1985 came to the UK on a scholarship to finish his ballet training.
As his first professional engagement he joined the National Ballet of Portugal for one season in 1986.

Daniel moved to London City Ballet in 1987 and was made a junior principal dancer performing mostly in the traditional classics.

In 1990 Daniel joined the Zurich Opera House Ballet dancing classical repertoire and works by director Uwe Sholz and guest choreographers. There he also was a finalist in the First International Dance Competition in Luxemburgh.

 

He joined The Scottish Ballet in 1993 for 2 seasons directed by Galina Samsova. He danced classical leading roles in Cinderella, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Ana Karenina and also danced contemporary repertoire. During his stay he was invited to dance in Brazil for 3 Royal Academy of Dancing’s 75th Anniversary Galas.P2103046

 

Daniel joined Northern Ballet as principal artist in 1995 performing the roles of Basilio in ‘Don Quixote’, Albrecht in ‘Giselle’, Romeo in ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Dracula’, Heathcliff in ‘Wuthering Heights’ and also created the roles of Jose in ‘Carmen’, Pip in ‘Great Expectations’ and Dr.Jekill in ‘Jekill and Hyde’.

 

Daniel ended his performing career in 2004.
