“Chaplin, The Tramp” had its world premiere on the 15th of March 2019.
This 2 act full length ballet, created with the Slovak National Ballet, has been inspired by the life and work of Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin KBE, English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer who rose to fame in the era of silent film.
Chaplin became a worldwide icon through his screen persona of “The Tramp” and is considered one of the most important figures in the history of the film industry.
His career spanned more than 75 years, from childhood in the Victorian era, when he lived in utter poverty, until a year before his death in 1977, and encompassed both adulation and controversy.
The Ballet “Chaplin, The Tramp” was produced under the licence awarded by Roy Export S.A.S.. The production was held in co-operation with its *creative team as a work owned by the Slovak National Theatre, created under the leadership and at the initiative of the Slovak National Theatre, funded by the Slovak National Theatre, with kind permission by Roy Export S.A.S.
As a timely part of the celebrations of Chaplin’s 130th anniversary, Daniel de Andrade, Carl Davis and the Slovak National Theatre, has dedicated “Chaplin, The Tramp” to Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin KBE as a tribute to his life’s work.
